Folk instruments festival?

#1

I have a harp student who is hungry for all Folk instruments: hammered dulcimer, bowed psaltery, mountain dulcimer… is there a good conference/festival to go to, to get your hands on? Or just the Dusty Strings store? (We’re on the East Coast!)

This is the largest one that I know:

But there are plenty of others all along the Blue Ridge and Appalachian mountains. Harps have not been as common as dulcimers (both kinds), psalteries, etc. when I lived in the mountains 20 years ago, but I hear they are more frequently seen nowadays. Try some creative googling, ha ha.

I like and regularly attend Coshocton Dulcimer Days in Coshocton, Ohio. They have workshops and activities for mountain dulcimer, hammered dulcimer, and bowed psaltery. No harp yet though. But for those it is very good. In the past they have also had classes for tin whistle and ukulele, but you never know.
